The number of people offered a spot on the waitlist last year was 1,115. 378 accepted to be placed on the waitlist. Ultimately enrolled off the waitlist were 10.</p>. Kenyon is better known, generally, back east than Grinnell is – a generalization, but east coast folks will go to Ohio but Iowa is a tougher sell (I am from east coast originally and moved to midwest about 15 years ago). Both student bodies seem pretty similar – a little quirky but lots of regular, smart, interesting kids.Denison is in a larger village and is also 25 minutes from Columbus where students can go for entertainment, internships etc. Oberlin has strong sciences with big focus on sustainability. Kenyon is known for the Kenyon Review and its theater program. Kenyon students are pretty demanding when it comes to culture, and I think most of the time the college pulls it through. I actually have a lot of friends who go to urban schools (mostly in NYC and Boston) that regret going there-- they get so caught up in the city that they lose the college's culture.
