Hold the drive shaft and see if you can rotate the joint end on the transfer case yoke back and forth to see if there is play in the joint. If you can't notice a problem with the joint, check the front u-joint for play. You may want to pull the old shocks off and go for a test drive to see if the clicking stops. Next things I would look at would be the front axle u joints and wheel bearings.
