Remove all the belts but one in the center. Cut a piece of belt from one of the old belts about 20 to 24" long and laced on each end. Install this short piece of belt in the one remaining belt in the baler. Open the tailgate until the pin can be removed from under the takeup arm. Lower the tailgate all the way.

Depending on the baler model the tension system relief vavle determines how much pressure is built in the system. 2400 is the maximum pressure for a 648. I would avoid loosening any lines.

If you look at yours you will probably find that the edges are rounded off. Those are what grabs the hay and gets it rolling. Also helps to feed it faster when starting the bale.

I would get so much hay up there it would get behind some of the rollers and cause a belt to start to flip. Hay was maybe a little dry, but the best way I could get a bale to start sometimes was super low rpm, 900RPM or so and decent ground speed. If a core would get started, rpm up and speed up to normal baling.

D. donjrRemove nuts and spring hardware at the bottom of the cylinder while the cylinder is still pinned at the top. Unpin the top. Remove the cylinder from the baler with it's immediate hardware.
