Just studied it all on repeat. Practice NBMEs. As many as possible. You can look up what organ systems make up the highest percentage of the IM shelf, and allocate your study time accordingly! I made sure to watch the online med ed videos for cardio, resp, and renal (and had already done GI from my surgery shelf).They literally reuse questions from the practice exams on the actual shelf exam. They are selling you a good grade if you’re willing to pay. I was scoring like 50th percentile on the shelf exams until half way through the year. Once I started paying for the practice exams, I started getting 90th, 80th, and 85th percents.Have at least 2 out of the 3: Score at least 1 SD above the mean on shelf, at least 1 SD above the mean on OSCE, have at least a 3.5/4 on clinical evals. Generally clinical evals are worth 50% of the grade, OSCE 20%, shelf 25%, and then 5% is some nebulous committee that gives you a grade, usually 3/4. 2. I think 85-90% (raw) of the exam is preppable, but the last 10-15% is random ass nonsense within crit care, neph, GI, or card medicine that is extremely hard to get right. Most of the time, they give you a 1-liner reason for why the answer is right and then repeat that 1-liner in the "concept to learn" portion at the end of the explanations.
