The Pike Arms® 1911-22LR BARREL ASSEMBLY is threaded 1/2 -28 TPI and includes the matching thread protector. I initially purchased the GSG 1911-22 on 7/1/10 ($330.00) as a training pistol since my EDC is a 1911. At approximately 4,000 rounds the alloy barrel bushing broke. The GSG .22 is a different matter. It has about the same relationship to the .45 1911 as a K 22 once did to the K 38 revolver, within the limitations of blowback and locked breech operation. I'm not sure how the cover is attached but I can't remove it by screwing it off. The tab on many have just a little too much meat on the bottom of it, and if not pressed in 101% of the way, and the trigger comes back it pushes on the tab and in turn the grip safety and pushes in the shooter's hand.
These replacement grip screw bushings allow for the use of standard 1911 grip screws. The stock GSG or Sig Sauer 1911-22 grip screws are a special thread pattern and only fit those pistols. It is not possible to replace your grip screws with one of the many after market 1911 grip screws since the screws will not fit these 22LR pistols.
