If you don't want to remove the manifold, you have to go at removing it from both underneath like the manual says. What the manual leaves out is the fact you you also have to remove the TB and air intake hoses to have enough room to get at the 2 bolts holding the starter in place. And be careful not to damage the TB or knock sensor.
