New water pump, full antifreeze, new heater core, new thermostat and running 210F engine temp. heat drops to little or nothing at idle and blows pretty good at speed. I've only put 3000-5000 miles on since teh water pump replacement.I doubt the fan clutch will help high speed overheating. The air flow at speed should be plenty to cool the coolant in the radiator between thermostat cycles.I replaced my fan clutch on the 4.2 hoping it would help my low speed heat but no dice. Pull the plugs and see if they're light brown or super white.That is not normal!!!!! Either your engine was overheating, (dash gauge not working properly), or you have a fan sensor issue. Make sure that your coolant overflow bottle has coolant in it. Pull your negative battery cable and leave it off for about 10 minutes. Hi, my 2013 Wrangler Unlimited has recently started to stall while driving. It happens randomly, once every few weeks- the latest was a couple days ago. It starts again and after sitting about 5-10 minutes and seems to drive fine otherwise. No lights go off, it just dies and I loose power steering.So now the jeep temp gauge will peak consistently after about 3 km of driving, I shut it off and mostly it would reset after no more than 60seconds and I was fine but limited to speed. A few times I would hear the bubbling and sounds it makes when overheating, no antifreeze was pouring out or filling my reservoir.

A properly working fan will turn about 3-5 turns if it is properly working. This is what I read before I did the water pump/clutch change.

913 posts · Joined 2017. #2 · Jun 18, 2019. Your AC may cut out because an overheating condition is sensed. First things first, once the engine cooled down entirely (so couple of hours), open the radiator cap and check the level in the radiator. Don't rely on the reading of the overflow bottle.

While it's still idling high, the temperature would stabilize again back to 1/2. This would repeat every few minutes. It is not limited to idling. bonza. usually if your Jeep is overheating when driving at highway speeds it's caused by lack of water flow, ie plugged radiator or faulty pump or even stuck thermostat. overheating at slow speeds such as in traffic usually caused by interupted air flow thru radiator such as faulty fan clutch or radiator fins are blocked with crap.

I can drive around town all day and go 55-60 on the highway with no problems (temperature stays just about 210, just under 210 is normal for a Jeep, so a little hotter than normal but will never overheat.)
