Kawasaki vulcan 1500 starting problems.
Jun 22, 2017 · Starting Problem. My Kawasaki 900 Vulcan won't start. The battery is only 1 year old and gives a reading of 12.89 volts across the terminals. I have charged it repeatedly. With the switch off, there is only 0.02 mA current across the terminals which I assume is due to the running of the clock and other internal electrical settings.

O.K. been riding since 1959 and have had everything going and some no longer going so I know all bikes have their own 'quirks'. I need to downsize from my C-90 at my age (knees are shot, back spasms etc). Really like the looks and feel of the 900. But one of main reasons not to go Suzuki again is their p*ssy electrical system.Pull the cold start knob out, and twist it to hold it in position. Give a very small amount of throttle, but dont twist back and fore when trying to start. Once started, leave the "choke" out for a couple minutes. I had this every winter for many years on my y2k 1500 nomad with hypercharger. Sunny Bob.

IMHO I would go for the 1500 as they have more power, torque, and get pretty close to the same mileage with the 900 having a slightly bigger tank. Hope this helps.

The FI light comes on solid. The running lights and tail light come on fine. Active codes that have been repaired are self clearing and are shuffled off to the historical code bin and saved there. 2. The vehicle down sensor is re-settable after the bike has been righted and the ignition is powered off and on. The sensor itself latches until the proper sequence to reset is followed.

Check the big 3, air, fuel and spark. When the issue happens again, see if the bike is getting spark. See if the bike is getting proper fuel pressure and fuel volume.
