I believe the car is best driven on weekends away from traffic or on the track. In which case the buckets and MT gearing are not overly annoying. If you’re considering not getting the buckets for daily drivability, Porsche made a car for that, it’s the GTS. The general thought in the Porsche community is that there will be no 2024 GT4. You can still grab a 2023 allocation if you are willing to pay $15k adm. Porsche is also out of PCCBs and bucket seats, so those can’t currently be optioned. This late into the cycle, you'll probably have to call several dealers and you may get lucky. One caution on the waitlists, some dealers are allowing people to jump the line. So you may end up on an MSRP queue, but the dealer, when they actually get an allocation ... But I would still choose the Cayman as a weekend car over the 992 T given the 992's footprint. It's unfair to bring old cars into the discussion, but I'll do it anyway: As a pure fun/weekend/track car, I would buy a 987R or 981 GT4 instead of a 718 4.0 GTS, both are more than one step above the 718 in terms of engagement level.
