A change in hulls or wads makes a huge difference. I've tried some of the published loads but didn't have great results. Finally tried Rem plastic hulls (STS), SP20 wads and longshot. Perfect everytime now. Here is a drawing of the W23694. Below it is a "post wad" which appears to be the same except a post is built into the center of the wad; post-wad was designed for 16 yard trap from a full choke barrel. Basically it is an early attempt at a spreader. I have a box of 1000 post wads that I may use for that purpose sometime.

The RXP20 shot cup depth is 7/8" with smooth petals and the SP20 is 1" with stitched petals and ribs.
