Sarracenia forum.
Dying pitchers at the base are a symptom of rhizome and root rot. This can be caused by any number of fungal or bacterial infections, and is often due to overly hot, wet, and stagnant conditions. Heat is a particularly severe problem for cobra lilies (not so much for Sarracenia); their roots have very low tolerance for high temperatures.

Posted March 13, 2011. Hi, Now that the first sarracenia flower buds are appearing I was thinking of planning some crosses. But I was wondering how to describe any seeds produced. For instance if I pollinate plant A with pollen from plant B and vice versa can I give both sets of seed the same name, ie S. (A x B), or should only the first be S.So I added a small slideshow to the bottom lefthand side of the forum. If you use the button on the right hand side (or scroll all the way down), you will see a small square of constantly changing pictures.
