For #1, your SLAM level is the amount of free chlorine in the water. It’s safe to swim anywhere up to that level. That number is determined by how much CYA is in the water. Higher CYA means your FC (free chlorine) needs to be higher. The bleach you’re buying off the shelf might be 6%. The 6% at my dollar general is $1.25 a gallon. The 8% is $2 and the 12% is $3 and change at walmart. I do know how to read lables. According to the math it's pennies different in favor of the bleach. If you are happy with your method more power to you.
