I went with the version with auto brightness and sometimes I wish I would have went with the versions with manual brightness. The auto version can be extremely dim in some low light conditions.After about 4 minutes of inactivity, the illumination should turn off. It should then immediately turn back on when it senses movement. If you cannot see the illumination in true darkness after movement, there are two possibilities: (1) your brightness is not high enough, or (2) your optic is not functioning properly. I was just going to get the plate for my hellcat pro (Springfield tards) can't make a dang normal footprint, and get the Holosun 407k rmsc but I thought I'd try the manual sentinel shake awake. It was much better. The glass on the swampfox could be better, it catches a glare and the emmiter is a little fuzzy but overall it seems to work well.
