Searched the forums, but haven’t seen any recent updates on the entry experience into SXM. We received our pre-approvals, as the 3 of us are fully vaxxed and boosted. We’re traveling with our young son so are trying to set expectations/ stay ahead of the joys of airport logistics.

There are two ATMs on the complex opposite the airport on St St Barths, that is where I get my Euros. SXM is in the Dutch side of St Maarten and as far as I can remember the ATMs distribute USD and NAFs, apart from one between the arrivals and departure areas which also give the options to get Euros.

Flew in on March 2nd and out March 13. They are doing an amazing job with what they have. Arrivals, while working well, will be improved shortly to accommodate additional volume with the addition of a larger arrival Pavillion.

Anguilla is overwhelmingly the better of the two locations but it's fun to explore new places and try new things. We stayed in SXM for the last days of our vacation and I don't regret it. I am sure they do random checks and if they have reason to suspect drugs or weapons, but they don't really care if you bring in a pair of NIkes for a friend on the island.
