Long answer: NFC isn't a simple wireless barcode. The best way to imagine the amiibo is as a very weak, low-powered computer. When it comes close to an NFC reader, the reader transmits enough electricity to it, wirelessly, to turn it on. Then, they start talking to each other. It’s the exact same. Amiibos are just figures with a NFC chip inside (at the bottom). Amiibo spoofing is just using the same NFC chips that amiibos use by themselves. The switch doesn't check for authenticity and they aren't complicated code wise. So they are safe and not bannable. The thing that tripped me is you have to use the emulator to initiate the scan at the ATM. Use the real controller to walk up to the ATM and then use the emulator to navigate the menus. I think if you don’t do this then the Switch will try to scan from the real controller and ignore the emulator’s amiibo. If there was something wrong with the spoofed card, the game would simply not recognize it as being compatible, like if you tried to use any other random non-amiibo NFC chip.
