Past trainings on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders can count towards a practitioner meeting this requirement.May 25, 2011 · The patients tend to misbehave in acute ways. You have to make quick decisions. It makes for an adrenaline-filled day. - You get to physically take care of patients. Lots of doctors order drugs, but have no idea how to administer them. You give the patient drugs without orders and see the consequences. Jun 19, 2009 · As far as Anesthesiology vs. EM, I would say EM has better "lifestyle" b/c they work less hours (probably an average of 35 vs. an average of 50 or so) and they are never on call (barring mass casualty or you have to cover for a sick co-worker). NO CALL for EM. and you only work like half the month for full time pay.

Can you do double fellowship in cardiac anesthesiology and pain management and be able to practice both in an academic and private practice setting? 3. Are there a lot of jobs that allow cardiac and pain certified anesthesiologists to practice both? 4.Anesthesia requires a 1 year prelim/IM year while EM does not. EM can be a 3 year program, while anesthesia will be 4 years. Once your EM shift is done, you are finished for the day. However, in anesthesia, you are only finished when the cases are done (which may go longer than expected).

I didn't do my fellowship at Cleveland Clinic, but I am a big believer in workhorse, non-supervisory, do-the-goddamn-cases-yourself, cardiac anesthesiology fellowships (as opposed to echo fellowships). It boggles my mind when I get on here and see people asking where they can go train and work as little as possible.I'm a CA-2 right now. Dr Marsh is still the PD, and does have equal weighting in interviews/selection as the other attendings who are involved. Dr Marsh does a ton of research, and administrative work.
