I'm currently looking for a 300 blk barrel, but I am conflicted on the twist rate and length. I'm taking into account bullet grain weight and cost as well. I've seen on online cost of 300 blk and it's a small difference $19 dollars for lower grain cartridges and $25 for higher grain cartridges (box of 25), but in all a difference for my wallet.

So shorter than 18 means more flash/noise. A 300 blk however gets full powder burn in about 9 inches. So the flash and concussion will be less than a 223 in a comparable length. A 5inch blackout gets really loud.

Yeah you make a bigger hole with a 30 cal but you have more energy in the 6.8 SPC. If you want the bigger hole AND energy get a SCAR 17.
