My guess is that the tracking somehow favors stabby weapons in laggy conditions, this doesn't apply just to Estoc but Rapier too. I'm getting nicked by katana hits that are nowhere near me all the time, doesn't matter what weapon it is. Yeah, it's not as bad as it was in vanilla Dark Souls 2 at least. The lag isn't that bad.

Raw weapons (like fire and deep weapons) just raise the base damage but don't give you damage bonus depending on your stats anymore (the scaling). Other infusions change on which stats and how much damage bonus you get. Also, no need to buy a new estoc, you can re-infuse a weapon you infused.

I love seeing people try to land those RT chains in PvP, it's very easy to get out of the way and punish them for trying to land all 5-6. Starting this new character, I'm rushing for the Estoc. It's amazing. It's one of if not the best weapon right now (rivaled by I believe the Sunlight Straight Sword and the Dark Sword). You have low stamina costs. A decent C/C scaling with refined. A great move set.It's no different to the people crying over dark magic in DS1. If you used that against a remotely skilled player you'd be backstabbed before you know what hit you. Estoc is pretty much the same speed as a greatsword which is ridiculous The reach is terrible and it can be outspaced by pretty much anything except axes, daggers and maces Are we talking about the same weapon? You know, the long rapier style sword? The attack doesnt have step in on R1, but it does on R2, easily outranging every straight sword.

Dunno why it's suddenly popular again. There's a few other combos I've seen, with things like a SS or the red hilted halberd on the off hand. #4.
either low lvl pvp with weapon buff on a strenght build, flyn, rob+2 good for poking, but the best part is the 1HR2 swipe unlocked it catches a lot of ppl. You may want to have a good parry shiled off hand, an axe with horizontal swipes works great too (bandits). My favorite build though is a UGS main and estoc off hand. Now thats a killer combo.It's usually 14/16 str 40 dex/45 str or 27/28 str 40/45 dex for a quality. Or 40/40. That said, if you just wanna use the estoc, base str is perfect, as that e contributes nothing. I recommend 16 str to have access to the chaos blade and silver knight spear. I recommend never stopping at 20 str...Ricard's has the quick multi-thrust WA, which is excellent with bleed or powerful weapon buff builds, stacks up damage really quick. Melts bosses, really hard to hit in pvp though. In your case, Estoc has good base AR, while Ricard's has low base AR.
