I believe you have to remove the stitch before it goes from "almost cicatrized" to cicatrized. My healing stalled altogether until i took the stitch out and then sorted itself out straight away. Cool mod! Did you ever get a amount of time. It's been a few days and it's still not cicatrized for me.

You could try the sandbox settings. There is a setting there that allows to set the infection as curable/non 100% lethal (can't remember what's it called for the life of me). Well, you need to disinfect the wounds and keep them bandaged, only unbandaging when a bandage becomes dirty. Whiskey, Disinfectant and Alcohol wipes are all used to disinfect. Whiskey is the most common of all disinfectants, make sure your character is well rested and eat well enough to be able to fight off the normal infection.
