You can walk around and just look at building that way, I found a lot of beautiful things by wandering. Also you can easily walk to most things and not move or park a car. Answer 1 of 6: Hello. I will be taking a road trip to Charleston with my daughter from July 12 to July 16. Just a couple of questions...I'm looking for budget accomodations since for the most part we plan on spending most of the day out and about.

Some good day trips to consider: Folly Beach will be a day trip in and of itself. Beaufort is charming and I highly recommend. If you want a real understanding of Charleston's history, I would visit one of the Plantations: Middleburg Place, Magnolia or Drayton Hall. Each site is very different.

While in Charleston head across to Mount Pleasant, just across the bridge are some good seafood restaurants there. It's a beautiful city, and we love making a few day trips there on every visit to Hilton Head.It's only 45-50 minutes away with virtually no traffic on the backroads through Bluffton (another great place to explore).
